Disney Days: The Fox and the Hound

You may have figured out by now that I love a good Disney themed party. I'll use any excuse to plan one and sometimes I go big but other times it's nice to just have some snacks and maybe an activity to do while watching a favorite classic. Which is exactly what we did when we watched  The Fox and the Hound. 

Above all, this is a story about friendship so that was our theme for the day. We watched the movie with friends, ate friendship bread, and created scrapbook pages that celebrated the fun we've had with friends. This Disney Day is proof that you don't always have to go overboard to have a good themed part. This one was so simple day it created lasting memories.

Disney Days: Phineas and Ferb

Recently I shared that in our family we bring Disney home by celebrating Disney Days. Some of these are laid back and small.  However, when we have something to celebrate or it's a billion degrees outside (so we're looking for fun inside) we go BIG! A few years ago we pulled out all the stops for a day that celebrated one of our all time favorite Disney Channel shows, Phineas and Ferb!

We started with our table scape. We wanted it to really represent the adventure and fun of summer so we pulled in all of our favorite summer toys from beach toys to sling shots.

It just so happened that my daughter has an Eiffel tower, so of course we had to have our favorite duo climb it!

We also found some great printables on the Disney Family webpage. (It's been a few years so they are probably different than the ones we found but there are still lots to choose from.)

The absolute highlight of this day was taking a page right from the adventurers playbook and building a roller coaster in our living room.

We used foam tubing found at our local hardware store and some marbles. The kids had a fun time finding just the right angle, loop size, and more to get their marbles to stay in the loop,   I think they may have even learned something! (Shhh... don't tell them it was educational!)

We've already whizzed by a few of our 104 days of summer vacation but there are still plenty left to create your own Phineas and Ferb day!

Disney Daze

In our house we're usually Disney Dreaming. The best way to indulge is of course, by planning a trip. But in between trips we've found a way to satisfy our Disney obsession by celebrating Disney Days. We pick a Disney theme and have some food, decorate, and usually (re) watch a favorite movie. 

Sometimes we choose a movie for our theme:

Angel hair pasta, braided bread sticks, a cake tower, and, of course, painting! 

Sometimes they are elaborate, like our completely over the top Mad Tea Party:

Completely, utterly, totally MAD. We even painted the roses red! 

Sometimes they're more low key like our friendship themed Fox and the Hound afternoon.

Sometimes instead of a movie we choose a favorite ride or attraction:

Texting clues for our own mission to save the world (before Kim Possible was reFERBed into Agent P)

And of course sometimes it's a movie AND a ride that inspires us:

Hunting for pirate treasure! 

Disney also has great resorts for some over the top theming fun...

And TV shows...

We even made roller coasters in the LIVING ROOM!
