Thor's Chariot at Lowe's Build & Grow

If you are like me you are always trying to find things to keep your children occupied. If it is Disney related it makes it more fun.  Here is my scoop!

Thor has come to Lowe’s to end the “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble” Summer! Register your child so they don’t miss the final clinic!

Big Hero 6

Yes, it is about that time for the release of Big Hero 6 starring the dynamic duo of  Hiro and Baymax. If your household is anything like mine the anticipation is reaching a new level.  The release date of November 7th can not come fast enough. To help you become ready for the release and your family movie night of Big Hero 6, we have created the must knows for you.

Beginning
Big Hero 6 is a Disney adaptation of Marvel series of comic books. That is right folks, Marvel had a series of comic books out in the 90's that was named Big Hero 6.

Plot
From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind "Frozen" and "Wreck-It Ralph," comes "Big Hero 6," an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax, a plus-sized inflatable robot, and a computer prodigy Hiro Hamada. When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called "Big Hero 6."

Rating
Big Hero 6 is rated PG for action and peril, some rude humor, and thematic elements.

Violence:

 - Infrequent mild peril and threat to main characters.
 - Some frightening imagery.
 - Frequent portrayals of weapons and hand-to-hand violence in a superhero context.
 - Several non-graphic scenes of violence depicting fighting and explosion
This is to be expected of an action cartoon based off of a comic book.



Characters
If you want to be the cool parent during the movie you may need to know the characters and what their superpowers are. They do not have magical superpowers. However, their superpowers are based on their intelligence and quirky personalities.

Hiro Hamada (Voiced by Ryan Potter): Robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada has the mind of a genius-and the heart of a 14-year-old. He doesn't have any actual superpowers per se, Hiro dons a flight suit with a red circle on the glove that magnetically connects to the back of Baymax, and they can act as a tag team in battle.

Baymax (Voiced by Scott Adsit): The plus-sized inflatable robot's job title is technically Healthcare Companion: With a simple scan, Baymax can detect vital stats, and, given a patient's level of pain, can treat nearly any ailment. After some deft reprogramming that includes a rocket fist, super strength and rocket thrusters that allow him to fly, Baymax becomes one of the Big Hero 6.

Fred (Voiced by T.J. Miller): Fred’s ferocious, fire-breathing alter ego comes complete with claws, integrated communications and a super bounce.

Honey Lemon (Voiced by Genesis Rodriguez): Her knowledge of alchemy proves powerful, too, when the effusive brainiac becomes part of the "Big Hero 6" and creates clever concoctions that when thrown, can get her team out of nearly any jam.



Go Go Tomago (Voiced by Jamie Chung): The daredevil adrenaline junkie is at her best on wheels, and when Go Go joins forces with Big Hero 6, she rolls like never before, using maglev discs as wheels, shields and throwing weapons.

Wasabi (Voiced by Damon Wayans Jr.): As part of "Big Hero 6," Wasabi amplifies his martial arts skills with jaw-dropping plasma blade weaponry. Just for the record I love his name and will be saying just to annoy my children.

Marvel Easter Eggs

Once the creators  of the film got the approval from Marvel they went Easter egg happy. One good hint is that you will see a lot of Z level character's in Fred's room.

Running Time

This movie is approximately 1 hour and 48 minutes long.

Release Date

Here in the US the release date for Big Hero 6 is Friday, November 7, 2014. Mark your calenders. It has been released in a few other countries already.

How Release Went In Other Places
Russians are the first to experience Big Hero 6, and they are loving it. The Walt Disney Animation Studios film took in $4.8 million over two days this weekend in Russia where it was released two weeks ahead of its Nov. 7 U.S. release.

Avengers Assemble...

So you’re going to Disneyland and your family isn’t too excited about the Princess overload about to happen….Well, fear not true believers!  You can get your Princess fix, and the family can also get some Marvel happiness.

Marvel currently has an installment at Disneyland Park in Tomorrowland, which specifically focuses on their comic projects.  On a recent visit to DL, we had the opportunity to visit, and we were quite impressed with the area.

First off, you enter an open area where you can find none other than 9 iterations of Iron Man’s Armor.  That’s right true believers, you read that right.  These are movie props.  They’re set up just like they are in the movies.

Once you get your geek on in this area, you proceed forward to enter the realm of Asgard, and the realm of none other than the God of Thunder himself….THOR!!  Yes, there are many, many props in this area.  We spent quite a bit of time getting plenty of pics, as we stood in line to meet the God of Thunder himself.

You are ushered into a room and the doors are sealed behind you.   You are allowed to see more set pieces, and the next thing you know, Heimdall has opened a portal to the Asgardian realm (insert cheesy lights/fog stunt)….  

Before you know it, another set of doors open and you are ushered into the Asgardian Throne Room.  You’re lined up against the outer wall, and await the arrival of the God of Thunder.

Thor arrives, and makes small talk with the children in the group.  He asks for a volunteer to lift the hammer.  This is usually a small child, and it’s a great way to immerse the attendees in the realm.

There is a photo pass photographer present, along with a handler, who will help capture those special moments for you.  Don’t miss the opportunity to do this.  As a long time comic book nerd, I geeked out at the opportunity.  The details on the walls and doors of the Throne Room were awesome and spot on.

Make sure you get your pics of the details before it’s your turn to meet the God of Thunder.  Once the photo pass photographer finishes, you are ushered out of the room.  They have to open the portal to Midgard, after all.

Still need more Marvel?  Don’t fret, there’s one more stop on our journey.  For this stop, we travel back in time to meet none other than Captain America himself.  This portion of the visit is also awesome, in that the divider wall which Captain America poses behind, is actually used in the Winter Soldier movie.  So don’t miss a change to take pics.  This is a great way to kill time while you wait your turn.  There are also 5 variations of his shield on a wall, and his original costume from the first movie.  Again, make good use of your time and get those pics before your turn is up.

I will say, at this point, that the Cast Members bringing these characters to life did an awesome job.  Not only were they totally friendly, but they remained immersed in their respective roles.  So don’t be shy true believers, if you have family members who would totally geek out over the chance to meet these Marvel heroes, I highly recommend you make a visit to Tomorrowland and see them for yourselves.
