Walt Disney Records: The Legacy Collection

Music.  Every Disney film is known for it's music.  The parks and rides pipe music all day long.  Well Disney is now releasing original soundtracks to 12 of their most popular classics.

Disney realized that in the years 2014-2015, many of their beloved films were celebrating significant anniversaries.  Disneyland itself was turning 60!  So in honor of these milestones, Disney has created the Legacy Collection.

For the next year, Walt Disney Records will release collectable CD's on a monthly basis.  They will not be ordinary CD's.  The Legacy collection will include fine art covers that reimagine the original cover art.  Inside each album is an book with original film concept art from Disney archives.  Many of the releases will include bonus songs which have never been released.  Some of the collections will also have "The Lost Chords" which feature songs that were written, but not used in the final films.  They are brought to life with a full orchestra by Richard Sherman and Randy Thornton.  Mary Poppins will have dialogue from story meetings.  These discs will also mix the score and songs in the order in which they occurred in the film.

The collections will be released as follows:
  • The Lion King:  20th Anniversary-released June 2014
